Contour line:
The first vocabulary word I decided to find a photo for was Contour line. Contour line is defined as the perceived line that marks the border of an object in space. For an example of contour line I used the above image as my example, which was drawn by AJ Williamson. This art work illustrates the term for contour line because the image has borders marked with lines in space, hence contour line.
Outline:
I chose outline as my next vocabulary word. Outline is defined as the edge of a shape or figure depicted by an actual line drawn or painted on the surface. I used the art done by Richie Tatum called " Landing Duck" as my example for outline. This piece of art is a good example for outline because the use of the outline helps make this picture what it is by outlining the duck, and make the duck look like a duck with the outlining of the wings.
Expressive line:
The next vocabulary word I decided to use was Expressive line. it is defined as a kind of line that seems to spring directly from the artist's emotions or feeling- loose, gestural, and energetic-- epitomized by curvilinear forms. For an example of it I used this drawing by Bill Tyler. It is a good fit for expressive line because just by looking at the picture you can tell the artist had a personal connection to this painting. There is fine quality and work and can tell emotion was poured into it.
Negative Space:
The first vocabulary word that I used from chapter five was Negative space. Negative space or shape is defined as empty space, surrounded and shaped so that it acquires a sense of form or volume. My example of negative is the above drawing done by Noma Bar. I believe that it can actually fit both positive and negative space definition, it just is based on how you look at it. By the way I am going to be looking at it the negative space in the art is the white space that contains volume and form by the means of the outline.

Overlapping:
The next vocabulary word I used from chapter five was overlapping.Overlapping is defined as one object 'stands in the way' of another which is further off. So by letting one thing or person overlap another the painter shows us depth. For my example of overlapping I used the painting called "shadows on rocks" by Tally Forbes. I believe this is a good example becuase it shows numerous different objects overlapping each other, and gives us a good sense of depth and to which object is first.
Foreshortening:
For the last vocabulary word, I decided to do Foreshortening. it is defined as the modification of perspective to decrease distortion resulting from the apparent visual contraction of an object or figure as it extends backwards from the picture plane at an angle approaching the perpendicular. As an example of this I used the picture called "Almost Home" by Dominic Avant. I believe it is a good fit because has the perspective to decrease as the object is further away and to where it is closer up. It gives you the feeling that the head of the person in the picture is further away then then feet.
